Approximately 36,000 teachers under Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE) will receive salary adjustments. Government school teacher salaries in the country range from 36,000 to 84,000 Singapore dollars per year—equivalent to roughly IDR 508 million to IDR 1.18 billion.
Meanwhile, teachers at international schools have the potential to earn higher incomes. Their salaries range from 50,000 to over 100,000 Singapore dollars annually—approximately IDR 705 million to over IDR 1.41 billion—depending on experience, qualifications, and career level.
In addition to base salaries, many foreign teachers at Singaporean international schools receive various perks, including housing allowances that can range from approximately IDR 28 million to IDR 63 million per month.
The Singaporean government views teachers as a crucial investment in human resource development. In contrast to Singapore, Indonesia still faces challenges regarding the equitable welfare of educators. Issues concerning income and employment status—particularly for contract teachers (*guru honorer*) in various regions—remain a key concern in efforts to improve the quality of national education.
